BIG BEAR LAKE - Ready for a Rocky Mountain high?

It seems appropriate - under the stars and amid tall pines - to celebrate the music of John Denver.

For its Music in the Mountains Summer Concert Series finale, Jim Curry will perform the music of the legendary John Denver.

The concert is set for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Big Bear Discovery Center's outdoor amphitheater.

Proceeds from the concert series benefit Forest Aid, a restoration program in the San Bernardino National Forest, as well as environmental education and responsible-recreation initiatives of the National Forest Association.

Kathy Clapsaddle, the NFA's operations director, said the performance is a perfect ending for a series that helps the forest.

"John Denver really raised awareness and consciousness about the environment through his music and his actions," Clapsaddle said.
